Starting a career in ICT

Many young women are turned off careers in ICT because they believe it's 'for computer nerds' or 'for blokes' or 'boring'.

However, when asked what they are looking for in a career, young women say they want fun, variety, security, interaction with others, expressing their creativity and the opportunity to travel.

It sounds like they are describing the ICT industry!

A career in ICT doesn't mean sitting behind a computer cutting code for twelve hours a day. ICT careers could mean working in the fashion or film industry, medical research, publishing or pharmaceuticals, marketing, transport and automotives or farming. And make good money doing it!

Design websites, develop games, run projects or run your own business. You could make a difference in the education arena, help save our precious environment or develop new technologies to gaze at the stars. Really, the sky's the limit.
